Nina Mackay

Director

I am originally from Nelson but have worked in Timaru since 2001. I have extensive experience in rural, commercial and residential conveyancing including subdivisions, estate planning and trust formation and administration. I have 17 year’s experience in the law and bring sound realistic advice to clients as well as leading the commercial team at JMJ Lawyers.

Chris Jones

Director

I have had a varied working life with roles such as freezing worker, lambing shepherd, tractor driver , blade shearer, factory worker, barman, business owner and real estate agent. I completed my Law degree in 2004, took a break to help raise family and then entered Law full time. I specialise in Conveyancing (with Property Planit) and Relationship property.

Tim Jackson

Consultant

I started my law career in the early 1990’s graduating LLB (Hons) from Otago University. My career included a period at the Crown Solicitor’s office as well as management and consulting roles. I specialise in criminal, employment and civil litigation. In litigation the lawyer’s role is not confined to case preparation and courtroom skills but requires a holistic approach including risk management.

Matthew Bonniface

Originally from Christchurch, I completed my tertiary education at the University of Canterbury with a double degree in Law and Arts (majoring in Political Science). After being admitted in 2021 I moved to Timaru to join JMJ Lawyers.

My current area of practice is in general litigation with a focus on criminal and employment.

Originally from Wales I moved to Christchurch in 2006. I completed my LLB at the University of Canterbury in 2020 and moved to Timaru to join JMJ Lawyers Ltd in 2021.

I am a lawyer, farmer and Dad having originally moved to NZ from overseas. I do criminal, civil and family work in conjunction with other colleagues. I believe in the concept of Legal aid and believe its important to get the best result first time.

Trust Account Administration

I moved to South Canterbury from Auckland in 2000 and have been involved in Law firms since that time. I am a qualified Legal Executive.

Although I have been involved in many administrative areas of the Law firm, my expertise is in Trust Account Administration, a position I hold at JMJ Lawyers. I have 20 year’s experience in the legal profession.

Born in South Africa I moved to South Canterbury in 2008 having had a background in the legal fraternity in SA.

I am involved in administration with JMJ Lawyers but my primary task is to organise and manage our Deeds and support the Commercial team.

Kimberley Chappell

Legal Executive

I am originally from Timaru having completed a Bachelor of Business qualification in recent years. I am the administrative support for the litigation team and likely to be the first point of contact when clients ring or visit the business. I am also involved in a range of other admin tasks within the business.

I have worked in law firms in the South Canterbury area for over 20 years having been born and raised in lovely Geraldine. During that time I gained significant experience in Conveyancing (buying and selling of homes), Wills, Powers of Attorney and the administration of Trust accounts. I enjoy direct contact with clients and seeing their wishes fulfilled.
